How to Use AutoFarm3D with Bambu Lab Developer Mode

June 17, 2025

If you're running Bambu printers and heard about the latest firmware update, you might be wondering: "Will automation still work?"

Good news: AutoFarm3D™ is fully compatible with Bambu Lab's Developer Mode. That means your print farm keeps running—fully automated, uninterrupted, and on your terms.

AutoFarm3D  gives you full control over your print farm—from job routing and AMS compatibility to automatic part ejection and queue management. Whether you're managing five printers or five hundred, this setup enables a reliable, hands-off workflow that scales with you.

In this blog, we’ll walk you through how to use AutoFarm3D with your Bambu printers in Dev Mode!

Why Developer Mode?

Bambu Lab’s Developer Mode runs on LAN-only mode and opens up local network access to your printer. That means third-party applications like AutoFarm3D can communicate directly—no cloud dependency, no restrictions, and no lock-ins.

This means you can use AutoFarm3D to:

  • Automatically print jobs across your farm
  • Track filament across your printers (including with AMS)
  • Detect failures as soon as they occur

You get full automation without giving up the speed, quality, or convenience Bambu printers are known for.

How to Enable Developer Mode on Your Bambu Printer

Bambu Lab provides a detailed guide on how to enable Developer Mode.

You can find it here:

The process takes just a few clicks, and once it’s enabled, your printer will be accessible on your local network for AutoFarm3D to connect.

Connecting Your Bambu Printers to AutoFarm3D

Once Developer Mode is enabled on your printer(s), here’s how to get everything set up in AutoFarm3D:

  1. Log in to your AutoFarm3D Dashboard.
  2. Click “Add Printer” on the dashboard.
  3. Follow the prompts to connect your Bambu printer using its IP address and Access Code.
  4. Once connected, your printer will appear in the dashboard—and you’re ready to automate.

AutoFarm3D will automatically detect AMS units, track filament levels, and route jobs accordingly. From there, you can set up jobs, turn on failure detection, auto eject prints (with supported hardware), and more.
